Can one high school student change the high school drop-out rate in America?
Can two...ten or a hundred?
What do you know about staying in school...that might change someone else's life forever?
You Make It...YouTube it and We'll Post it Here:
Each day, more than 1,200 young men and women give up on their high school education, and, in many cases, on themselves. Once students make the decision to drop out, they lack the tools to compete in today's society and diminish their chances for greater success in the future. But the decision to drop out of school does not happen overnight; it comes after years of frustration and failure. Often, those that drop out have run out of motivation and have no source of support or encouragement in school or at home.
This new campaign, Boost, is intended to help create an identity, support and encouragement for those who may be at risk of dropping out. It encourages teens and parents to give these struggling kids a Boost, to help them stay in school and graduate.
The PSAs feature stories of real teens across the country who are struggling to make it through high school - and what is motivating them to make it through each day.
At www.boostup.org, visitors can follow the video story submissions of the kids that are featured in the TV ads. Teens themselves can submit photos, artwork, or pieces of literature to tell their story of how someone gave them a boost and/or how they boosted a friend. There is also a section for parents and teens with resources and guidance on issues relating to school, crisis and the community.
